We put ours in a squirt bottle and went to town. Allow it to puddle in places so that the ants may collect and bring back to the nest at their leisure.
Recommendations for success: If you use a squirt bottle, cleaning it by running/squirting hot water through it immediately after depositing will prevent the squirt bottle from clogging up from crystallized sugar and Borax. Use a bottle cap or lid to allow for a small drinking pool of delicious poison for the ants to drink from.
